Wine Paring – Braised Chicken Legs with Lemon and Banyuls Wine
I thought I might provide you with a selection – both white and red wines from the Languedoc Roussilon Region generally including two wines from des Côtes Catalanes. I would think that, due to its proximity to France, one could also add quite a few nice wines from Northern Spain. But had I done that, my list would have gone into next week. Enjoy the dish, enjoy the wines and enjoy with your friends.
Les Vins de Sélection
Languedoc Roussilon Region
Domaine Lafage Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Côté Est 2005 Sauvignon Blanc and a soft, every day, very nice, blanc, clean finish, solid. In other words you can bring this wine home to meet your parents and all should go well.
2006 Le Soula Blanc, Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes great bottle to enjoy with friends, this wine has medley of white grapes, namely Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Vermentio. The wine is full of character and vigour and I would recommend buying and holding for at least two or three days.
Cailloux Vieilles Vignes Domaine de la Serre big, smooth, organic, dark fruit, easy drinking – I am giving this wine a thumbs up because, well because I can!
La Tâche, Domaine de la Pertuisane Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes 2004, another good Granache wine that’s lightly colored yet full with deep notes of strawberry and raspberry. Yumm, that’s lip smacking good (but do that at home.)
Les Gaillards, Old Vine Grenache 2004, Les Gaillards. Grenache is the main grape in many Rhone blends and most Cotes du Rhone and Chateaunuef-du-pape. It’s a grape that yields soft, lightly colored yet full wines endowed with deep notes of strawberry and raspberry. I am finding myself becoming increasingly sympathetic with old vine, old wine and old generally.
