Loire, Sancerre 2005 Domaine Christian Lauverjat Sancerre Moulin de Vrilleres Sauvignon Blanc. I return once again to this Domaine having fallen in love with their wines. The Sancerre selections are to die for whether red, rose or white and quite frankly I have no problem with either one despite what Grand-Mère. They are all Triple Crown winners without meaning to sound too equine-ish.
Bordeaux, Saint Emilion is the oldest wine area of the Bordeaux region and if you have had a good SE you know what heaven is all about. It is by far some finest wines from this growing region. The wine classification for the SE are complex and obscure, fitting for something as delicious as this wine.
Provence, Bandol Rouge Domaine Tempier – This is an interesting little grape and most definately worth exploring – not because it may have a higher alcohol content than others but its likely going to be a great companion to any hardy dish. The 2005 vintage got good marks from Parker though he anticipates maturity in 2012 or so. I’m not buying a T-bill so feel free to enjoy it now and worry about investment maturity dates later when the bottle is empty.
South Africa, Graham Beck Pinotage – Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and is considered to be one of the classic grapes from South Africa. You can imagine yourself on the back porch sitting in your zebra-skin chair, shotgun at ease next to you as you survey the veld.
